Amazing video

This is the winner for Ukraine's Got Talent. She does things with sand that seem impossible. The pictures just emerge from nowhere.

Re: Amazing video

That was very impressive.

I liked the music. Apocalyptica cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters."

Judging from what she was drawing(?), I think they were crying because it was either historically significant or was depicting war, or both. That was amazing. Great find.

Agree with everything said here. I'm unfamiliar with Ukraine's history and role in WWII, but my guess is it was brutal in some way or another (wasn't it everywhere in Europe?). At the moment I can't think of a good comparison to American history that would bring us to tears; but then, we're a generally insensitive lot these days anyway. It didn't bring me to tears, but definitely gave me goose bumps.

for bringing this to us.

Re: Amazing video

The 20th Century history of the Ukraine was horrific. Stalin blockaded them in the early 30's, after their farmers didn't turn over enough food. He took what they grew, then used military force to prevent any food from entering. Millions died.

Then Hitler did the same thing. When they invaded, they literally planned starvation. They took their food, and they starved, again by the millions.

Now, with a newly aggressive Russia, they have again to worry about their national sovereignty. Georgia is to this very day still occupied by Russian--I nearly said Soviet, since it feels the same--troops.

The piece was clearly about the evanescence of life. The beauty and power of it, I think, is what was so moving. She was so young, too. Who has she been? What has she seen?
