Re: What doesn't kill Natasha

Camille, Veronica - thank you! :) Tonight I'm going to do at least 2 sets of 3 with 110.

***

Missed workout in the morning. Planned to do some running - something like 4 x 400 meters, but didn't get up :( My body's still sore, especially shoulders, chest and arms - sure they appreciated an extra hour of sleep :)

SS, day 6

Today I limited rest periods between work sets to 3 minutes - huge difference, the total time for the workout was 1 hour less! And I can't say it was too hard or in any other sense different from the times I was resting as much as I wanted. Will try to stick to it, at least now, when the weights are not that big.

***

Back squats:

warm up: 45x5x2, 65x5, 89x3

work sets:
110x3 (at least 1 good below parallel! Actually it felt good, I thought I got 2 good squats, but camera showed parallel )
110x3 (2 good squats!)
110x2 (good depth ), 110 F - dumped the weight, hit the back with the bar - dumb! But it was good to finally do this move - I was afraid of dumping and in case of failure was sitting, folded under the bar, until my husband take it from me!

Press: I'm stuck!

Decided take it easy on the warm up, did just 3 reps of 45# and moved to work set.

60# - 1, 2 (wow!), 3!!! - lowering the weight and re-racking it did the math - 45 + 10 = 55!!!

I was so sure I'm doing 60! Oh, well, good bye the strength I wanted to save with cutting my warm up to 3 reps...

60# - got it once! Then 2 failures, which I completed as a push presses.
Then dropped weight to 56# and couldn't get even one - did 2 with the help of my husband.

DL:

warm up: 89x3, 109x2

work sets: 133 x 1 + 1 + F + F (singles, but with minimum rest in between lifts, no more than 10 seconds).

I did it! 133 is my new PR And +2# towards my 315 CFT goal I'm at 303 already - woohoo!

Re: What doesn't kill Natasha

The best way to find muscles you don't work regularly is to wake up from pain in those muscles. My calves are killing me! And it was just 50 squat-jumps!

***

I'm thinking of cutting the SS workouts to 2 per week. I'm missing intensive CF WODs, I'm jealous when my husband gasping for air after working out, leaving sweat angels on the floor... I feel like I'm using SS as excuse to not working out. It feels like that, even though I know that's not true.

Maybe I should be smarter and stick to the program as everyone advices, and maybe when the weights will become heavier I won't say that it's not serious anymore?

Re: What doesn't kill Natasha

Hey Natasha! You're making really great progress. I'm around the same weights as you for squats and presses .. I haven't tried to DL anything over 100 (come to think of it, I don't know why!) Anyway, it's really great to meet another former dancer turned CrossFitter & see the gains you are making in such a short time!
