Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Anthony (M/31/170)

Box Squats (below parallel)
135x3
225x3
265x3
310x3
350x3
390x3
410x3

10 rounds of:
30 seconds Box Jump 30" (barefoot in the rain)
30 seconds Rest
Score: 184

It's been awhile since I've been in the gym - busy with renovations and spent the weekend in Calgary. Last 36 hours saw approx 3.5 hours of sleep on a plane. So considering the circumstances I'm pretty happy with today. Squats felt heavy on the first couple of sets, but then felt really crisp and strong on the last few. Box jumps were decent - no leg fatigue like I was dealing with a couple weeks ago - but I got dizzy on the first set. Maintained a 18 rep pace until the last round. Overall happy.

Jodi (F/31/112ish)

CFWUx1

Squats
110x3
130x3
150x3
170x3
190x3
200x3

10 rounds of:
30 seconds Box Jump 20" (barefoot in the rain)
30 seconds Rest
Score: 153

Practiced tuck lever. I feel like I could hold that position all day but can't seem to straighten one leg.

Squats felt really good. Just took my time and maintained a nice steady pace with the box jumps. Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised with how everything felt tonight. I'm tired. haha!

Anthony (M/31/170)

Clean & Jerk
120x3
140x3
160x3
185x3
205x3
215x3

4 rounds of:
400m Run
10 Handstand Pushups
Time: 8:16

Front Lever practise - managed a couple of decent holds

Well, the trip out west and lack of sleep caught up to me and I have a pretty wicked cold. Didn't sleep well last night and most of today was a slogfest. C&J felt decent considering. Cleans didn't have much pop (probably from the fatigue from box jumps yesterday) - jerks were better though. The conditioning work was surprisingly okay - I paced the runs and did the hspu unbroken. Calves were also tight from yesterday, but loosened up by round 4.

Jodi (F/31/112ish)

CFWUx1

Bench Press (long pause)
75x3
90x3
100x3
115x3
130x3
135x3

4 Rounds of:
400m run
10 HSPU

Time: 18:20

Bench felt great tonight and the WOD felt pretty good even though I'm pretty darned tired today. I was surprised at how good the runs felt...granted I got a good rest in between each round since HSPUs were done one at a time right from the beginning. But still...very happy with the runs tonight...and happy I got all the HSPUs - a few were iffy - I locked out as the legs started to drift down - but overall, they were decent...hard but decent.

Clean & Jerk
65x3
75x3
85x3
100x3
110x3
115x3

No WOD tonight. I had to make some last minutes changes to this week and next weeks training to accommodate our schedule. I have a heavy deadlift session tomorrow so just did strength tonight. I might try the snatches tomorrow night. I've been playing around with barbell turkish getups in my warmup - they are awkward but getting better. Kind of a fun change. Clean & Jerks felt great. My last clean seemed a bit slow but the jerk popped right up.

Earlier in the day I stepped on a dull rusty nail and it almost popped through the other side. After getting a tetanus shot from the emergency room, I went to the gym and tried to bench. There was still too much swelling to get any proper leg drive off that foot, so I just called it a day. Feels much better today, hopefully I can deadlift.

As in, it almost penetrated your foot completely?

Ow ow ow ow owwww!

I'd be inclined to leave off deadlifting for a few days, to let the injury heal up a bit before putting all that stress on. Don't mess with yourself longer-term for the sake of a scheduled session.

How close are you to getting the new gym ready to rock and roll? I've a few friends who want to come check you guys out, now that you're closer in.

Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Yeah, had I taken the time to look, I'm sure I would have seen it trying to poke through the skin on the top of my foot. The hole on the bottom looked big enough to jab my pinky finger inside. Yesterday was bad as I couldn't put any pressure on it at all, but today is much better. I can walk with just a bit of a limp, stand on one foot, etc. Deadlifts will be fine - it's only 520 for a triple.

Gym *should* be open June 14th. All that's left is crack fill, ceiling sprayed, paint, and equipment install. But my crack fill team is on a very sporadic schedule and humidity/rain is not helping. So it's tentative ...
