John,
A back squat is a traditional squat with the weight on the back. L-sit pull-ups are pull-ups done with the hip kept at a right angle. The legs are extended and the heels never drop below the butt.

Would you bring the weights to the track, and lift in between 800m laps?

You could do that or what may be easier is to map out 800 meters out side of your gym. At CrossFit in Santa Cruz we have "urban" 400 m - 800 m - and 1 mile runs that we use.
