water

Simply, what quantity of water are you guys on per day?

And does water in coffee or in protein shakes count toward that?

Re: water

I shoot for a gallon a day. I look at Coffee and protein shakes as a bonus. Coffee alone I am probably at a gallon, haha!

Half my weight in oz. I have a 32oz bottle I try to drink 3-4 of a day. Coffee I am not sure on. I have heard it doesn't really hydrate or dehydrate, more that it has little impact on hydrating you. I can't really say though.

I don't give much thought to how much I drink on any given day, I just drink when I'm thirsty. And with the exception of strong alcoholic drinks, all fluids including coffee count.

I don't really drink a lot of water. Probably should start. But I drink a couple cups of coffee and sometimes a cup of tea everyday. Hmmm... I gotta start drinking more water. To the cooler!

for as long as I remember most BB stuff says a gallon a day.

personally i drink at least half my weight in ounces a day, and often more, and that is just water. i also drink alot of coffee, tea, and often times milk. and i can tell a big difference when i don't get my water.

Thing is, they say if you feel thirsty you're already dehydrated. I'm bad about keeping up with my water intake but I do know that if I hit the mark for a couple days in a row, I feel and perform better. When I slack off I start feeling not so good; sluggish, headaches, even joint pain, and my time on the bike is miserable.

Re: water

The minimum I drink is 1/2 my body weight in oz. (80 oz). I usually try for 100 oz though, and 1 gallon if I can manage it, especially if I sweated a lot during my workout that day. I normally count coffee, water in protein shakes or preworkout, coconut water, etc. but don't count all fluids like some of those articles suggest.

Re: water

Half your weight in oz. (Example, you weigh 180lbs, you drink 90oz) That being said thats maintenance recommendation. Crossfitters, pro lifters, and any HIIT type athletes should more than likely be drinking much more. Also, take into consideration environmental factors and austere situations.
