Re: Joist Mounted Rogue Ring Hanger

I took two 1/2" bolts by like 6" long and drilled straight threw the studs and put washers on both ends and a bolt then a lock nut on the ends. They will NOT move.

Re: Joist Mounted Rogue Ring Hanger

That ring hanger is a money grab from Rogue. Just just some lumber, lag screws and eye bolts and you are done. Spread the load over a couple of joists and finished. I would be very shocked if your rafters (if they are engineered trusses) collapse.

Thumbs up Re: Joist Mounted Rogue Ring Hanger

Pics of the final product WFS. I decided to play it on the safe side and use the ring hanger. It's attached to 3 joists with five 3/8"x4" lag screws through the 2"x6". The ring hanger is attached to the 2"x6" with five 3/8" screws as well. As per my previous attached diagram.

This thing ain't goin' nowhere.

Well done!

If you weren't opposed to the idea, you might want to cut the drywall out in the footprint of your 2x6 so it directly contacts the joists. I think your setup is well planned and won't have any issues; I'm just suggesting it for debate purposes.

I am curious if people have tried this and if it worked. I just moved into a new house and finally have a garage and I am looking forward to getting my rings hung up. I figure if I can do it for around $5 then I might as well and put the extra money towards something else.
