Regional Rankings (World) - First two weekends
Here's a look at the rankings if you took the top 14 in each region and reranked them according to their performance..
Only the regions that have completed are in the spreadsheet below.. If you spot something wrong just let me know... I did this in excel so I may have messed up somewhere.. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...RXb0E&hl=en_US |

Looks cool. I think if you do female, there will have to be something to account for the 1st WOD of the Canada East (?) region where they did additional WOD.
Also, are you accounting for people that are removed from competition (either DNF or day three) by giving them all points as if they're last place? |

Re: Regional Rankings (World) - First two weekends
I may do the women's rankings after its all done.. and im not sure about canada east.. i had not heard of that extra wod..
as for the men side... the top 14 in each region completed all the wods according to the data that i pulled from the scoreboards.. The way its looking in central east... Dan Bailey wont have anyone close to him in the standings. |

That said, the run course at the Canada East was significantly longer and had a huge dip down and back up. |

Re: Regional Rankings (World) - First two weekends
I am only familiar with the Canada West people but found it interesting that the men who came in 3rd, Tyson Takasaki, and 4th, Steve Howell, came ahead of Jeremy Meredeth who came in 2nd. I'm not saying that Meredeth didn't deserve to go through but he may have benefited from the cuts to the field. There's no knowing if there would have been a few more people in between him and the other two in the last WODs.

Re: Regional Rankings (World) - First two weekends
I have just updated the list to include this weekend comp.
I have also color-coded the names by what place they finished in their regions... (if a region only has 1 spot for the games i only colored that one person.. and not a 2nd and 3rd place) |

Re: Regional Rankings (World) - First two weekends
Very interesting post Nicolas. Thanks for putting this together.
It would be interesting if the Games organizers considered At-Large bids to the top 5 athletes not already qualified, based on the worldwide comparison that you've set up here. These 'wildcards' could then finish just off the bubble for their region, but still have a longshot chance if their performance was especially strong compared to other regions. Dan Bailey sure has thrown down some performances to date. Will be very interesting to see how pre-qualified athletes Mikko, Rich, Graham, and others who won't have regional scores measure up to Dan once the Finals start. |

Somethings that can make it more interesting:
1. Add a page with the Open results, but rescored as if only the Regional athletes competed. 2. Add a column that shows the region of the athlete 3. Add a column for the actual result of the workout. Does anyone else wonder why the games website didn't do this already? |

Top Five for Each Workout (WS/FF)
I did something similar at work today while at lunch. I was at the NW Regionals this weekend, and after watching some of the workouts I was curious how fast people in other locales were getting them done. I checked a couple of other regions on my iPhone, but it was a hard to get a good look at the data since it was spread across so many pages.
I plugged all the data from all the regions into an Excel spreadsheet, then did some sorts for each particular workout to get the top times. I don't have the actual spreadsheet with me, though. I grabbed a screenshot so I could post it on FB to show some friends. http://www.woodenbadger.com/temp/regionalsTopScores.jpg |
