Toes to the Bar & KTE : Chest Sore?

Hey guys,

My WOD on Sunday had 100 Toes to the bar, which eventually turned into Knees to Elbows for me after 40 reps.

My core is sore as expected but the weird part is how sore my chest is! I do Push ups and bench pretty regularly so I am somewhat surprised.

it really feels like my chest is almost overstretched. Anyone experience this? It is not a normal soreness but this happens to me every single time I do this excercise for many reps.

It's from the eccentric portion of the toes-to-bar/knees-to-elbows. Eccentric movements (contraction of the muscle while it's lengthening) do a lot more damage to the muscle and can result in greater soreness. As you come down from the top of your swing, you have to control your body on the way down. The back does this to a large extent, but the pecs are involved as well. Icing it for 15min will likely help the soreness and reduce inflammation. You can also do some shoulder dislocates a bit later for dynamic stretches and some active recovery.
