Starting For newcomers to the CrossFit methodology

3 months in - my progress and a question

Hi all - I started doing crossfit about 3 months ago and I am totally hooked. I joined a box within walking distance of my office and I attend lunch class 4 days a week. The owner and the guys I work out with have helped me a TON. I love the philosophy that everything is scalable, and that everyone is very helpful and that they really want to see me do well.

When I started, I had trouble running around the building for my warmup. 2 weeks ago, I ran my first mile ever without stopping. I have made great improvements not only in cardio, but also in the weightlifting and gymnastic moves, which are especially tough considering I am not very flexible.

I'm still working on determining my long-term goals, but I know I am going to stick with Crossfit.

In 3 months, I have lost 18 pounds, and 2-3 inches around my waist. My shoulders and back are getting a lot stronger.

Currently, I am:
40 years old
6'2" tall
22% body fat (tested in July, 6 weeks after I started)

My long-term goals would be:
to maintain overall fitness and health
be able to complete a 5K by Thanksgiving
eventually be able to participate in Tough Mudder, mini-tri and/or similar activities

I know I am on the right track and have learned a ton from this forum.

Great will only get better the next three months.

I think setting the 5K goal is a good one but maybe you should also have some weight/lift goals or some other items surrounding bodyweight movements that may be a challenge for you. (chest to bar pull ups, hand stand push ups, muscle up...etc.).

Those were just examples, if you can already do them then great!
