Looking for CF Kids Advice

We are starting up a CF Kids program at our box --what have you all found to be some of the best ways to get the word out to the community. We have had to work hard to get knowledge of CrossFit in general to the adults and now to have to say well it's CF but for Kids adds in an extra challenge --

Looking for advice, ideas, brainstorming ---

send flyers out to local schools. You'll probably have to go through the school district.

Stephanie,
Have you or your trainers been through the CrossFit Kids cert? We spend some time talking about this as well as have a doc regarding it.
Jeff

Hey jeff - Lori P from our box is certified and we are offering free classes for the entire month of August to get kids and their parents to give it a try. Lori said she met you at the games...I will email you for more advice. I am so excited to get this up and running...

Re: Looking for CF Kids Advice

CFLA has had our Kids program up and running for over a year now. Our kids are about half children of members and half not. In the beginning we started with a free month and I handpicked kids of members to get us started as a "test" month for the whole program - some of them then joined, some didn't. We also put a banner on the building, did some outdoor workouts, put out postcards, participated in fundraising auctions at schools, etc.

Honestly, most of that was no help at all. The banner was probably the most useful. For the most part word of mouth and personal referral have been the biggest thing to bring people in. And talk to EVERYBODY about it, you have no idea who might have kids who are interested -- example: we just had the daughter of our UPS man join!

Stephanie,
We put two and two together while walking in. Drop me a email JeffatCrossFit.com.

By the way, Beccas advice here is very sound and helpful. We have the best job in the world, might as well tell everyone about it.

Yep! We have special shirts that all our coaches wear and I wear mine out to the grocery store, shopping, etc. People always ask about it. Best free advertising you can buy!
