Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I am sure it will be something silly like the last one. I vote to bring back the 5 min AMRAP Squat/clean to overhead @ 165#.

Max double under 5 min would be fun also..

Have a list of exercises in my book with good/med/poor.. so far I have only 1 good and 4 medium exercises. Thank God I have not hit the bad ones.. but they will get here.. have 3 of them.. won't tell you or it will happen. Good news is that I have worked on them and they will be a bunch better than last year.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

If it's 5 minutes of double unders, my regional hopes are squashed. I've got some gnarly pain in the 5th metatarsal knuckle from all those box jumps, so I'm hoping there isn't much hopping in the next 3 workouts.

So.. has anyone seen the video of Josh Golden's 387? I'm lol'ing that his score counts.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

The "shoulder" to overhead was WAY worse than the box control. The affiliate owner's defence of the video on FB made me squirt milk out of my nose and I'm not even drinking milk.

Please share because I'm laughing pretty hard just at what you said.

It looked like alot of his reps were short, top of the box, deadlifts (especially the last one of each set) and even some of the presses early in the WOD. For the first several rounds the bar never touched his shoulders on the press. What's the standard on the bottom of a push press? Just below the chin or actually making contact with the shoulders?

And just to clarify, I'm not saying his score shouldn't count or anything. He put up a massively impressive number and I bet if we studied the video of everyone at the top of the leaderboard we'd find something to question. Just the nature of cycling through that many reps at a fast pace.

from the games site:
"For the Shoulder to overhead to count, the barbell will move from the shoulders to the overhead position with the knees, hips and shoulders extended in one line."

BTW, I am not taking anything away from his performance, that is incredible no matter what.
