Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

Anyone do "Bring Sally Up"?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UT96MUI1NU WFS

Everytime they say "bring sally down" drop into squat and hold. Then Bring Sally Up, come up, and it's right back down, a lot of time spent in down squat position.
Start unweighted and have fun. I'd say about 1/3 of the people in my box can get through the song without standing and shaking out at least once or twice.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

Garage gym so it works well with the basketball hoop in the driveway.

You get 10 free throws. For each miss add anywhere from 5 to 10 burpees to your normal warm-up. Sometimes that is the warm-up.

What dictates 5 to 10 burpees depends on the person. If they handle burpees well, then maybe its closer to 10 per miss. Even shooting 6 out of 10 is 40 burpees, 2-3 minutes of their time. If they shoot well and I expect them to make 8 out of 10 I'll give em 10 burpees per miss as well.

good fun and reminds people to stay on their game.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

I visited a box a while back and the coach did "the name game" each person had to say their name and give one body weight movement to do with no more than 5 reps.
Fun to see how creative people can get and you get to know everyone's names!

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

1 or 2 lines of people all facing the same direction... but with about 2 feet between them.

Give the person at the back of the line a WB, weight ... you decide...

This person will run (zig zag) between the people trying not to touch anyone. When he or she gets to the front of the line he or she will face the first person.

Now the WB is to be passed to the next person but the ball must travel throught the air 8,9 or 10 feet.

The receiver will catch it and rotate to face the person behind (thats the tricky part as to what suits you best) and do a full WB squat and WB goes to the next person........ it should look like the WB is bouncing to the back of the line in the air where it all starts over again...

With the line movíng forward 2 feet at a time.....

This get very competitive and you will be warmed up...

Have fun

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

Last night was great.

Played musical bears. Just like listed prior.

But instead of sitting on the med balls they had to claim a med ball and stand with it. the person out did burpess in the middle of the circle. But here was the kicker everyone holding a ball had to do an active squat.

went over great thanks for the post.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

How about something similar to an old basketball rebound drill....

Create single file lines of, say, 5 people per line. First person, with a wall ball, squats and throws the ball up against the wall, then gets out of the way (to the back of the line). Next person steps up in time to catch, squat and throw it back up, next person steps up, etc... You could call it something like "revolving door wall balls"? Either X amount of throws/team, or make it competitive first-to-X throws.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

Here we go again - i Call it the Ring of Fire

This is best when you have allot of people. 2 rings of people, inner and outer with them facing each other, make sure they have space to move.

Inner ring - each person gets to choose whatever exercise they want to do. They tell the person they are facing what the exercise is.... Anything goes as long as you are warming up.

Whoever is in charge calls either time or reps - 3, 2, 1 go....

Once everyone is done shout "change" inner ring changes position... They can choose anyone to face and it is game on again.... But there is no rule to say you have to choose the same exercise again!!!!

IF you are unlucky you might end up doing burpees for 5 rounds....

After 5 rounds change the roles.... The rings change position.... Game on and a chance to get back at someone

Now if you have an uneven number then make sure the inner ring has the extra person.... They need to be Quick to make sure they keep moving and whoever rested is going to want to be in the game.... So it's fun to see when they push each other to try and find a free person..... But if you are tired you can rest in the middle.

Then you can adapt this to take it to another level

Have fun

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

And another one...

Set up 1 exercise for each person, stations.. Tell everybody what they should do on each of the stations.

Now either gather the group in the middle or to one side of the box.

3, 2, 1 ... Go it's a free for all, run and push your way to one of the stations and get back as soon as you can.

Game on again... 3, 2, 1 ... Go round two.. But this time you must choose something else, you are not allowed to do the previous station again.

Twist... If you get stuck with something you did before you have to do the station twice... Just for punishment.

After a while people will really make sure they get a new station...

Do this for as long as you want.....

It's a good laugh....
