Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

If you want to have some fun (also depends on how many rowers you have) you could always play a game of rowling. Here's a link to Froning, Bridges and Bailey playing a game (WFS).

We did 5 frames of rowling as a warmup with every meter under/over = x2 burpees. Ex. Row a 98 = 4 burpees (100-98=2, 2x2=4)

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

Plank ball

Hot Potato with a medicine ball and everyone is in a plank position. Everyone is in a plank position on their forearms or push-up UP position, facing each other in a circle. When the music starts, pass the ball to whomever you want. The person in possession of the ball or last to touch it if it is on the way to another person when the music stops has to do 3 burpees.

Person doing burpees is still in the game.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

We've been having fun with "Frisbee laps" as warmups. You take a Frisbee, start at your run course (ours is 600m), you have to get around the course, but the only way the group can move forwards (works best in groups of 3 or 4) is by a successful frisbee pass forward. You can't pass it to the person who passed it to you. If you miss a pass, you just toss it back to the person who missed, and they get to keep trying until they get a successful pass.

After doing this for the past few weeks, people are starting to get really good at frisbee, and there is much more sprinting to keep it moving forward. We are at the point of going to start timing it and keeping track of who has the best laps.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

These are MMA style warmups. They're not "fun", but good for variety.

1. 10 minutes of jumping rope (any style). EMOM 10 Squats or pushups (alternate each round)

2. Jump rope for 1 min, then 10 reps pushups, situps, squats
Jump rope for 1 min, then 20's
Jump rope for 1 min, then 40's

3. 3 rounds of
30 sec DU
30 sec mountain climbers
30 sec burpees
rest 30 sec

4. 8 min AMRAP with 45/25 bumper plate
20 floor to overhead
20 squats
EMOM 3 burpees

5. 2x Run 50M, jog back
2x Knees high 50M, jog back
2x heels to butt 50m, jog back
2x side shuffle 50m, jog back
2x carioca 50m, jog back

6. set up cones @ 50" apart
relay race in teams of 3
lunge
broad jump (3 burpees every 3 jumps)
bear crawl
crab walk
roll to V-up (no hands used)

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

One of our coaches did a fun one last week. I think the best way to describe it is animal zombies. One person is infected (Bear Crawl, Duck Walk, Crab Walk, etc.)

The goal is to tag everyone else.

Once you are tagged you become "infected".

If you're not infected, you must keep moving.

If you're caught standing still or go out of bounds you get a burpee penalty.

Re: Fun Warm Up Ideas.

i call it round and round.

Teams of 4 people

Requires WB 12-14ft and 15/20/25/30ft run

Works likes this:
4 people in a line behind each other for a WB.
Person nr 1- will start by squating and then reaching the given mark for the WB.... he/ will at the top of the WB movement move out of the way so that person nr 2 can be the receiver on the way down.

Person nr 1- will then run to a given point (Xft) behind the team and then back to the back end of the queue.

Now the idea is to keep the WB in motion all of the time without dropping on the floor.

if they drop it the whole team has to do something... 10 burpees or something... then they start over again.

In reality there should be no queue and the team should be moving round and round all of the time to reach the WB in time... If they are doing it too each and there are queues then move the marker an extra 5ft back for the run......

If you are not warmed up after this i have no idea what will do it.....

Have fun

Create single file lines of, say, 5 people per line. First person, with a wall ball, squats and throws the ball up against the wall, then gets out of the way (to the back of the line). Next person steps up in time to catch, squat and throw it back up, next person steps up, etc... You could call it something like "revolving door wall balls"? Either X amount of throws/team, or make it competitive first-to-X throws.
Brilliant!
