I have this kind of crazy idea I have been toying with, the CrossFit Decathlon.
Here is the basic concept:
10 different movements, 3 minutes to max out at each, no resting, with a point scale for each movement.

pull ups
muscle ups
knees to elbows
row for distance
bike for distance
deadlift bodyweight
turkish getups w/ 25%bodyweight
dips
situps
Clean and Jerk

Coach could figure out the best order to put them in. Go balls out to the finish.
30 minutes of pure hell.

Suggest any changes you think would be better. Be it movements, time, order, etc.
By the way, I have a captive audience to test it on, so it will happen!

Frank, great premise. We toyed with this kind of competition some time ago with Mike Bender, the 'Toughest Cop Alive' for 10 years running. A suggestion or two if I may? The muscle up incorporates both the pull up and the dip. There's nothing wrong with redundancy, and it's very 'real life.' But how about keeping the muscle up and swapping the dip for some kind of handstand press, i.e. handstand push ups. And there's always the basic rope climb for a pull up type movement. Both the run, row and bike are horizontally locomotive, while the rope climb is vertical. And I'm kinda partial to a kettlebell movement in place of a sit up. These changes would of course necessitate a bit of different equipment and that adds to the hassle factor, but they also add some more dynamic movements to the atmosphere of the competition. I like that, but then I'm kind of a traditionalist..

muscle ups
knees to elbows
row for distance
bike for distance
rope climb
deadlift bodyweight
Turkish get up w/25% bodyweight
handstand push ups
sit ups-kettlebell swings(?)
clean and jerk

Ross,
I like the suggestions, especially the rope climb. I think using KB's for the turkish getup would be a good change as well. Now all we need is the order to run them(help Coach!), and a point scale.
