Ryan Fisher vs. Dave Castro

Anyone know the background behind what happened with Ryan Fisher and his judge? He's always seemed like a pretty cool guy.

From the video, it seems pretty self-explanatory.

Referring more so to the reps/movements in question.

does it really matter? even if Fisher is 100000% right and the movement was PERFECT and the judge was blind or just an idiot, there is no way to justify what was said. with that said, i am also not sure i agree with Castro's approach, i think it would have been better to either DQ or penalize, asking him to apologize in public seems a bit parentish...

Re: Ryan Fisher vs. Dave Castro

There is no justification nor acceptance for been threatened, specially when you are there volunteering your time. However, I don't agree with the "no rep" calls the judge made, the movements looked good to me from the video, so I can totally understand the athlete's frustration and in the heat of the moment you are not thinking straight.

Re: Ryan Fisher vs. Dave Castro

It seems like CrossFit wasn't allowing bouncing on the deadlift during the competition.

yeah but once again we see just how inconsistent the standards and judging is. look at the same exact event done by other atheltes and you will see bouncing as well and yet no "no reps". that means that a great athlete like Ryan gets punished simply because he fell on a specific judge. if he had a different judge, the result would look completely different. not quite fair if you ask me..

here is Event 5 from the NE regional where you can see the same exact bounce that Fisher did:
