How would you convince the uninitiated to try crosstfit?...in 30 seconds.

The gym that I go to it very much an old school bodybuilder style gym, you know the type, lots of machines, steroid filled fellas knocking out 3 sets of 10 time and time again....anyway, they have a studio that is always empty and plenty of spare space i can use so i always set up and do my own crossfit type workouts, lots of lifts, box jumps, double unders, kettle bells, concept 2 rowing and running in and out of the gym round after round which generally leads to odd looks and the odd question about what I am doing.

This means i often find myself in a situation where i have a small window of time to explain what crossfit is and why they need it in their lives....I'm curious how you guys and girls would set about explaining the sport to someone who has never heard of it in a very short period of time?

I would tell them to watch videos of the Crossfit Games on YouTube. That's what hooked me, I stumbled upon it one night on ESPN2. It was the women doing Fran, and it just looked FUN! I was hooked and joined a box the next day.

The videos are powerful and certainly worked on me but i was on the look out for something new anyway...I am looking for a few powerful sentences to really prick up the ears and inspire fellow members to checkout the videos and get involved.

Crossfit women are hot!

That should be enough?! haha I dunno really I think the problem you're facing is the standard roid bashing body builders won't listen to you IMO. I suppose you could just tell them it's lifting heavy *** weights, gymnastics and lots of other cool things (but in a better way) and hope it attracts their attention.

But that is the point of the post, of course i could just leave people to make up their own minds but i used to train how they train and know how great switching to a more crossfit style of training has felt for me....obviously it would not be for everyone but I'm looking for a way of briefly summing up crossfit when I'm chatting in the gym with the hope of spiking their interest enough to have a look online or even better jump in with me and give a workout a go...so I'm after something punchy.

Tell them that there's something to train for, besides just looks. There are times, PRs, and scores to measure progress on. And it's fun and addictive. Tell them that their new favorite saying will be... "That ****ing SUCKED! What time tomorrow?"

What guy's that then? I'm not going out of my way preacher style to spread the word to those that have no interest...I have some people ask me questions and I want to wrap it up in such a way that people want to have a go, that's all.
