That's spot on....throw in a reference to the intensity level and that's it covered i think.

Don't be the preacher guy. Nothing wrong with a simple explanation, but don't be obnoxious (not saying you are).

"Constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements" would be in it's simplest form how you'd describe the workouts.

I'd say:

Crossfit workouts will make you gasp for air, sweat like a ***** and hurt like hell. Yet they still leave you wanting more and never fail to put a smile on your face.

Where's the problem in training for looks?

Let other people do their thing. Nobody really needs CF in their lives, they'll do it if they want to.

Can't argue with that.

I realize that people do what that like and no body literally needs it in their lives...its just a figure of speech.

How about the simple "I'm doing CrossFit. I could explain it to you but it would be easier to show you. What are you doing tomorrow at..."
Then, just do a WOD with them. They'll either come or they won't. They'll either love it or hate it. That's how it is.
BTW, that is Glassman's line not mine.

Good line as well...funny you should that actually because i did exactly that at the gym this morning, a chap i always say hello to come and did a warm up with me and said he was planning to do some light bag work, i suggested jumping in with me first and then I'd do some bag drills with him.....5 rounds of x9 bear complex/500m rows and he was on it backside dying!

I wouldn't. I point people in the right direction (main page, my box's web site) and answer any questions that I am ever asked, but I make no attempt to preach or convince. Lead the horse to water.

Just tell 'em the truth. It will make them taller, better looking, richer. It clears up acne, relieves the heartbreak of psoriasis and cures leprosy. Chicks will dig them and guys will want to be them.
