Re: Diet to lose weight and gain power?

Yes, I am sure it is possible that the test was totally wrong. The trainer who preformed the test thought I was more likely 12% by looking at me (but according to those pictures, that doesn't seem likely either!), and I would say y'all are right that the number is too low.

The 27% I reported was a result of trying to measure myself with a tape measure and use a calculator. I have a scale that said 14-16%, so I doubt the 10.7% is close to accurate. Anyone else ever tried the bodpod and had similar results? In any case, seems like as long as I do the same test again in the future with the same parameters, I could still see if my LBM was going up.

Re: Diet to lose weight and gain power?

Either way, the moral of the story is that your bodyfat is low enough that it shouldn't be a concern, and that (in my opinion) doing some heavy lifting and eating enough quality food to allow you to add some muscle mass will do a lot to improve how you see yourself in the mirror. Since you're already on CFFB, keep that up for awhile and monitor your progress. Since you're doing the amateur SWODs (you are, right?) you'll see progress on your lifts every time you do them.

Re: Diet to lose weight and gain power?

April, I am very glad you took everyone's advice and started cffb programming! (Like Eric said, you are on the amateur programming, right? You should be!) You may have noticed that the men who post in the comment section on that site are sometimes less than friendly toward newbies who ask questions.

Feel free to check out my workout log (the link is my signature on this post). If you have any questions about the program, how to scale, how it will affect your body, diet, etc just ask me on my log.

Also, I highly recommend you start a workout log of your own on this forum. It is a great way to stay accountable, track your progress, and get feedback from others. Not to mention, I'd love to see more women who follow cffb to post their progress!

Good luck on the program!

haha, yes. Just checking up on you! You may be surprised how many people start the program at collegiate/professional who should really be on amateur.

Still working on it. A logjammer's work is never done.
