Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

Just wondering. Do you need to take it everyday for it to work to its best effect? I workout 4-5 days a week and it's not that I don't want to take it on off days, I just honestly forget. Is taking it 5 days a week enough or is it something you need to load everyday?

You should take it everyday. Missing it here or there isn't a big deal but it should be taken daily.

Re: Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

As I understand it, you take creatine to build a higher "standing level" of it, so to speak, in your system. It's not a targeted supplement, although I did just read something that said there MAY be more benefits to taking it right after a hard workout. I started putting it in my post-workout drink, but on days I don't workout, I add it to my bedtime protein shake.

Re: Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

Here's my take. I've read TONs about Creatine over the years and this is what I've decided on and what I've done for about the past 5 years, at least. Every morning I wake up I drink a protein shake with 5g of Creatine and 5g of Glutamine. I also take my probiotics/digestive enzymes. When it's time to work out, I take my pre-workout drink about 20min before I start warming up and working out. I drink my amino acid drink during my workout (mixed with Diaspartic Acid if I'm on cycle). NEAR THE END of my workout I start drinking my protein shake with 5g Creatine and 5g Glutamine. I only take the Creatine if the current pre-workout does not contain it. I cycle through different types of pre-wod drink so I don't build up too much of a tolerance. I'm currently on Driven Nutrition but have take just about all of them over the years. I'm a HUGE supported of supplements. I'm pretty much anti-Zone and Paleo but my diet is "clean" (dairy, soy, gluten free) for the most part. I eat for fuel, not pleasure. I'll also eat a banana after my workout to replace some glucose in my muscles. Since February I've only done about 15 CrossFit MetCons. I am strictly Westside Barbell cause my goal this year was to get gnarly strong. When I actually do MetCons, they're a lot easier now. That's my take. It works for me...results may vary.

Re: Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

I often forget to take it during a weekend (my off days).
Does it make any sense to take it twice on monday, before and after a workout, or it wont matter?

Re: Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Dare I do the same thing. I always forget on off days. I never double up, I just continue as normal. Just 5g a day. I think it still makes a difference even if I miss a day or two, maybe just not as much?

As far as supplements go I only take 4. Creatine mono, bcaa's, vit d, and zma. Don't take fish oil anymore cause it was too expensive and I noticed no difference after I stopped taking it. Except my limbs fall asleep easier cause my blood is thicker. Fish oil thins it.

How about getting some liquid omega 3 oil, a lot cheaper than the one in pills.

Re: Do you need to take Creatine everyday?

Generally the thought is to due them some hours before your workout so it can have time to absorb into the body. I'm not sure 15-45 minutes before your workout is enough time for creatine to absorb which is it's often said in the morning besides PWO.

Right now I'm on a caloric deficit diet and creatine has helped more when I've taken it hours before than just in my preWO.

That being said, if I was getting way more carbs in I'm sure I'd have far better workouts.
