Okay. I am really proud of myself. I just built my first plyo-box for box jumps. I measured the ones at Santa Cruz and cut the boards exactly.

The strange thing is that somehow it turned out to be 22 inches!

Doesn't matter. Now I got two bars, enough weight, a rower, a wall ball station, and a plyo box. Fight Gone Bad - here I come!

What design did you use and how much did the materials cost? I am thinking of making a few for myself. I have a little mini brick wall in my backyard that I can use but I want to get something I can move around and take with me to parks and such.

Also, is it just me or are workouts that much better when done using equipment made with your own two hands.

I totally agree with you. And it's a lot more fun to build stuff, use it, and think of ways to improve it.

Beth, strange? no, exciting?! yes! 22 inches is going to be fun for FGB :-)

Andrew - I measured the box at HQ and this is what I got:

Height is (supposed to end up as) 20 inches.
Each of the four sides has a base of 23.5 inches and the top length is 17.5 inches. The sides are sloping in towards the top. The top of the box is supposed to be 17.5 inch square. My math must have been off cause it ended up being 18.5 instead. I used half inch plywood but think it should be thicker for anyone who is bigger than me and my son - especially for the bigger boxes.

They look like the ones at bigger faster stronger but their site is down today. I will try and post a photo later. Gotta charge my camera battery first.

Brenden - I just ordered a book about making your own gym equipment out of wood and another one for making your own playground equipment. I will let all of you know if they turn out to be any good!

I think the plyo box will be my next project. I just got my PVC pipe cut today for my home made rings, just need to find something to wrap them around now and I can finally get them finished.

if it's 22 you probably got the angle slightly wrong. 22 is better anyway lol.

Thanks, Beth. I built a mock-up out of cardboard last night. I promise I'll take pictures of mine as well.
