Re: Liz's log

hey liz,

I'm thinking you should have made the pullups easier, maybe picking a weight you could do 15-20 consecutive reps with when fresh. That way you can keep the desired metcon effect of the wod. Your pullup strength is not best built by light/hogh reps (in fact it's the opposite) but you have other strength workouts that will help with that, as well as the option of adding a few heavy sets in before the metcon a couple times per week, somewhere around the 5 rep range. Hope this helps! Come by, we'll talk more.

Re: Liz's log

Could not even begin to think about doing the inverted burpees today. Instead:

3 rounds for time

15 modified handstand push ups
15 modified knees to elbows
15 pull ups (70lbs assist)
15 burpees

12:16

By "knees to elbows" I mean lifting knees up to about waist level, of course.

Typical warm up. I'm wiped.

Trying out Zone. So far, so good. I'm just confused and concerned about coffee/cream/sugar.

Breakfast:

2 eggs, spinach, tomato 1 oz steak
strawberries

coffee

Lunch:

Thai beef salad with broccoli
grapes

We'll see. Mainly, I'm just tired. It's the day after my meds, so it could be that. I have MS, so it could be that. KD is sick, so I could be getting that, it's Sunday, so it could be the Sunday blahs, or my diet's changing, so it could be that.

Re: Liz's log

I would say don't worry about the coffee--I have eaten more vegetables this weekend than I have in my entire life up til now!! That has to be worth at least two squirts of hazelnut syrup!!

Re: Liz's log

For time

100 pull ups
100 push ups
100 sit ups
100 squats

I did 10 rounds of 10. 70lb assist on the pullups. Push-ups on an incline.

20:43

Woke up with sore throat. In Zone with coffee. Not last night with delicious ice cream sundae.

For the pull-ups, took Greg's suggestion and did more assist that I thought I needed at first. But glad I had it at the end AND could do the pull-ups much faster than if I didn't have as much assist. Thanks Greg!

Re: Liz's log

4/21/09

Sick

4/22/09

Back squats

3-3-3-3-3

10 form warm up
5 45lbs
5 65lbs
5 85 lbs
3 105lbs
3 115lbs
3 sets of 3 135 lbs

Not sure if this was the exact increments, but pretty close.

Met con:

4 rounds

45 secs work, 45 secs rest, for 4 rounds, of the following

squat thrust
16lbs thrusters
box jump
wall ball

Whew, great work out. Really needed the sweat. The met con was so hard that I was able to forget about all the silly worries and focus on throwing that darn ball up in the air!

Re: Liz's log

Deadlift

1-1-1-1-1-1-1

Or something like that. 6 rounds at 115. One round at 125. Heavy work is fun!

Never thought I would think that. I have never liked lifting weights....but I like the cross-fit weights.

Trying to keep up with Zone as best I can. Feeling good and fitting into some pants I haven't worn since last year.

Re: Liz's log

Holy tough workout. Wow, I'm really wishing I didn't do the spur of the moment met con a few days ago.

2 rounds of 20 reps each

box jump
hold pull up positions for 20 seconds...don't know what this is called
25lb thrusters
burpees
jump rope
40lb push press
10lbs wall ball
back extensions
knees to elbows

24ish mins. Too exhausted to remember to stop timer.

Angry Re: Liz's log

Poor Liz. I did Michael.

3 rounds for time

800 meter run
20 back extensions
20 sit ups

24ish minutes. I was too exhausted to remember to turn off the timer. And this time was with talking to someone after round 2, I think.

But it was hot today. In the 80s. And I ran outside and got very sick.
Dizzy, nausea, spacey and out of it. I was scared and upset about it. No one in my box gym said anything to me--asked if I was ok. So at that time I both kinda wished I had some peeps but also glad that no one was there so I could play it off like no big deal. I had to call D-Port to come get me and I still feel fatigued and crappy. I am so looking forward to rest day.
