Starting For newcomers to the CrossFit methodology

Hi
Need help,I have been doing some weight training for last 6 months and I came across the Crossfit site and tried to do the workout and well I just could not do it,I am 49 years old,5ft7in, and 190lbs.
Can someone please help.

Did you read Getting Started on the main page?

It is normal to find yourself lacking when first beginning the WOD's. You need to drop weight or drop reps so that the workout is manageable. Slowly increase the weights/reps used. Depending on where you are it'll take a month to a year to be firing on all cylinders.

Jayant, the workouts, as written, are designed for the top 1% athletes. It will take you 6 months to 1 year to do all of the workouts as written. Most of us come from sports or lifting backgrounds and we all made the same mistake: We looked at the WOD, said "I could do that" and were crushed! Start slow and adjust. Read everything you can on this site and check out Lynne's FAQ page.

Jayant, learn the crossfit warmup (see Lynne's FAQ web page, or buy the April 2003 back issue) also the May 2003 back issue of the Journal has a recommended twelve-week program to follow intended to help you get up to Crossfit speed. I also see its value in developing the daily discipline to form a lifetime positive habit, sort of exercising the big muscle between your ears.
