Eye Injury

I did something really stupid. I went out to my car to find the lacrosse ball I bought. For some reason I wanted to test its bounce, because I had the impression that they didn't bounce much. So I bent over expecting no bounce and threw it on the ground, not too hard. It hit my right in the eye. Not on the bone around my eye, but the eye itself. It was a pretty hard impact, but I think my eye closed in time.

It doesn't really hurt, and it only happened about 5 minutes ago. It didn't hurt much when it happened, it was just scary. It feels a little weird, and I think the area around my eye is starting to swell up, but I'm not sure. It feels a bit bruised.

I can see just fine, aside from the normal nearsightedness. There appears to be some broken blood vessels in the white part, but it's not that obvious.

I'm worried. Did I do any permanent damage?

Re: Eye Injury

I just took my contact out and I must have done something to some already damaged tissue. I think I tore part of the white of my eye. It doesn't hurt, but I can feel the imperfection when I in the surface when I close my eye, and I can see the irregularity in the surface in the mirror as well.

Re: Eye Injury

You need to be seen by someone that can look at the eye properly and determine if any damage has been done. Sooner not later.

Either the ER or your ophthalmologist. If you have a corneal abrasion you'll want to make sure it is healed before putting the contacts back in.

Re: Eye Injury

I think you'll be ok. Probably broke some vessels. Similar to getting punched in the face. Go get it checked regardless to be sure you didn't damage the cornea, although that will likely he as well.
