Need dumbbells anymore?

Assumptions:
I have the appropriate Kettlebells
I have Olympic bar and rubber bumpers

So beyond the purposes of scaling, do I need the dumbbells anymore?

I've not needed them in a number of WOD's now and was thinking of selling them if all I'll ever need them for is to scale down a WOD

Well that rather depends on your training doesn't it? If you only plan on doing the mainsite WOD then the answer is probably no.

If you decide to try out some supplementing training or skill work then it might be a good idea to hang on to them. Or scaling as you have previously mentioned. If you've got room for them, and you aren't strapped for cash then why not keep them? I know I would.
Besides you can always re-evaluate in half a year or so. The price on dumbbells isn't going to fall drastically anyway.

Good point...

I had thought about doing a bunch of curls to work on the "guns" a bit.

haha...kidding.

They are the Bowflex Selectechs, so they don't take up much room. I just haven't picked them up in awhile. I suppose it won't hurt to let them sit there for a few more months and see what happens.

Sometimes subbing dumbbells for thrusters and BP can be good - adds some different elements to the WOD.

Plus, for farmer's walk I would think dumbbells would be preferred over kbs.

Also, is there any chance at all you might want to affiliate sometime, or even just introduce friends to CF? If so, those dumbbells will come in handy for beginners and larger groups.

What do you use for weighted pullups? I use a dumbbell between my knees.

Pushing dumbbells overhead is a different effort from putting a barbell overhead. That whole "stability" thing. Mix it up.

True, but a KB "bottoms up" trumps a dumbell press of the same weight. But its not as easy to execute if you are doing somehting like renegade man makers. (I shudder at the thought of doing those)

there are also some important WODs that call for dumbells...look at the hero WODs
