I get the impression that the general consensus is that gloves are for the weak. Here's the thing though, I can't use chalk at my gym (it's a Bally's, so not a great place but it does have a decent amount of free weights and it's close and cheap), and my palms tend to sweat and make it hard for me to grip anything substantial. I've got nothing against building up some callouses, but I don't want to sacrifice form or lose an otherwise good rep because my hands are slippery, so I stick with the gloves...at least for now.

So my question is this: is there any reason other than appearances NOT to wear gloves?

Chris,

Gloves are for the weak and infirm, and those stuck in 1983.

Get some grip spray. It leaves no visible signs of use, and will keep you on the bar.

This link will show you the stuff. Work and Family safe.

Best,

Jon
