I bet they were eating piles of donuts and bagels loaded up with cream cheese like most business travelers, too.

Re: Most Ridiculous Hotel WOD

Not particularly ridiculous, but a good hotel workout... the hotel only had dumbbells and treadmills.

Travel'n Man Fran

21 Dumbbell Thrusters (choose appropriate weight)
1200 meter run (or 3/4 mile)
15 Dumbbell Thrusters
800 meter run (1/2 mile)
9 Dumbell Thrusters
400 meter run (1/4 mile)

Nice, quick and challenging workout.

I've done the same thing recently but with 800m all rounds.

Another good one for a treadmill is
150 squats + run 800m + 150 squats.

or 75 db thrusters @ 50# for time

Re: Most Ridiculous Hotel WOD

This next week I'm going to be on a trip, and I'm afraid of what will be in the hotel gym. If anyone has some other creative solutions to getting in a WOD, please feel free to share! I figure I can get in a metcon workout doing stairwells and burpees. Does anyone have any recommendations for the right proportion?

Emily-
I bought a jump rope and a weight band (or whatever you call the rubber tubes with handles). Invested about $20 and always have something to do at the hotel. Combine those with whatever is in the gym (I noticed lots of Hilton properties are getting dumbbells), running, stairs and burpees and you shouldn't have to lift the furniture!

Re: Most Ridiculous Hotel WOD

When I recently traveled out of state, I did Tabatas one day, the next GI Jane in front of the hotel using a tree for pull ups and yes the looks from people were very funny.

I also have done the run three flights of stairs (That's all the hotel had) 21 burpees, run the stairs again 20 burpees, continue down to zero.

Re: Most Ridiculous Hotel WOD

What, no one's using the hotel pool for a wod?

Here's mine (yep, got odd looks) - swim 4 laps, hop out, 50 pushups, swim 4, 50 situps, swim 4, 50 squats, swim 4...try not to drown.

Another one was manmakers...dumbells are becoming more common. Not really an unusual workout, but it seemed to be odd for the folks on the treadmills & ellipticals.

It would depend on how many floors are available to you...you could do a combination of burpees/pushups/boxjumps using the stairs?

Here it is...

do it on like the 3rd floor stairwell...3 flights of stairs is too many for most people and they'll take the elevator. Should be pretty quiet...

5 burpees
10 pushups
15 box jumps (probably 2 steps - or 1 depending on your fitness level)

AMRAP - 15 or 20 mins.

Re: Most Ridiculous Hotel WOD

I am not a trainer but love these two for hotel room workouts (a hotel with no gym and not many flights of stairs). How about 40-30-20-10 burpees, sit-ups OH suit-case (or duffle bag) squats. Or 100-15-15 squats, push-ups, dips then 75-30-30 then 50-45-45 then 25-60-60 followed by 100 v-ups for time? That will hurt and you can do all that in the comfort of your room. Gosh, the possiblilites are endless!

Christine
