Re: Alaska Crossfitters

I am new to Cross Fit. I am trying to see if anyone knows where to buy kettlebells for wholesale price in Anchorage. Also, if anyone has an ideal program for someone just starting the crossfit routine I would be much appreciative to hear from you.

I'm going to grad school in Texas, but I spend my summers in Homer, Alaska and hope to get a job in Alaska once I graduate. But I'll be in Homer in June this year.

Hey Tom, how's things in the frozen north?? Shoot me an email sometime and let me know how things are going!

And btw, I don't know if you guys have Sport Chalet up there, but they started carrying (overpriced) kettlebells down here...

Very cool, I grew up in Homer and I go back for a week in the summer. Maybe I can work out with you guys in August sometime. (it is kind of funny to hear Bayclub referred to as a "globogym," although I suppose that's accurate)

Hello! Are you that same Justin Herring I knew in High School up in Homer, or are there two people with that name from Homer?

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Hello all!

I have been actively doing Crossfit since July 07 here at a San Antonio, TX affiliate and have learned that I will be PCSing up to Elmendorf AFB in June08.

What are the Anchorage-area CF'ers doing workout-wise ... are folks getting together to workout or is it mainly a solo thing?

Scott

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Look like Alaska got a Crossfit affiliate.

Does anyone know anything about them?

http://www.revolutionsportstraining.com/CrossFit.htm

Says opening in May 08, but I figured I would ask since they are listed on crossfit.com.

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Don't know anything about them.

Looks like Anchorage is going to have a fitness advantage over the rest of the state soon.

Heck, if I could afford it, I'd certify, affiliate and open a facility in Homer in a hearbeat. But I think I'll finish grad school first. After that's over and once I have my loans paid off (and this could afford it) I'm sure someone else will have done it anyway.

If not, then we'll see. Homer needs to see there's more to fitness than the Bay Club and the High School weight room (which is actually a decent weight room - though it needs some serious upkeep).
