Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Chris - my wife and I are relocating to Anchorage in May/June of next year...don't know what part of town yet as we're still in the early planning stage...any advice?

I'll be working on the UAA Integrated Science Building and we'll be in AK for at least a year and a half but I'm hoping to stay a bit longer.

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Crikey!

I've been too busy posting my own logs and not checking this thread!! I'm going to do my CF Level 1 Cert at Camp Pendleton in January and Basic Barbell Cert in February.

We have a great gym here, Pavitt Health and Fitness. Two platforms, two cages, a ton of rubber plates, lots of ironmind grip stuff and two C2 rowers. We're expecting a shipment of kettlebells within the month.

If anyone happens to 'stop by' Juneau, contact me and we can hook you up. I hope we can get a certification seminar up here soon.

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

just posting again to get us up on the list again. Still looking for folks that have taken the pill. How about starting a discussion about where you crossfit in AK since we have no affiliates yet? Or looking for people that are driving up that might be convinced to smuggle some crossfit contraband (bumper plates, kettle bells, etc) through Canada.

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Hey Tom,
A few of us from Homer are looking to take a trip to Juneau next month. We'd love to check out what you have going on down there and get in a few WOD's.
later
Christian

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Hello to all my fellow Alaskans!
i've been here in Anchorage for about three years. Didn't really start crossfitting until middle of 07'. There is a small community of us on Elmendorf. Always looking for fellow crossfitters to get together and chew the fat if you know what i mean.... robertogarza@gci.net

Long timereader, first time poster. Just to let you know I solved the kettlebell shipping issue by buying a couple of kettlestacks and then plates at play it again sports. You end up with adjustable kettlebells and no outrageous shipping costs. Not bad.

Re: Alaska Crossfitters

Oh yeah - Level One Certified, YO!!

I strongly recommend it. I went to the Camp Pendleton Cert. Going to the Barbell next month in Seattle, then Oly lifting in May.

I used priceline.com for my travel (hotel, car and air) and it cost me about 700.00. Well worth it. Got some Alaska Air miles on that one.

Christian - I sent you a PM but I don't know if you got it. Send me an email when your know when/how many and we can meet at Pavitt's.
