Do olympic lifters have weak hamstrings?

Ok obviously they aren't weak but it seems like oly is much more quad dominant and the hamstrings don't get worked much compared to sports like PL. RDLs, GMs and pulls work the posterior chain but are those movements hit frequently compared to front squats and HBBSs? Also, is balance between the quads and posterior chain necessary for a sport like oly?

Kendrick DL 280 and BS 270x3.

Klokov Stiff Leg DL 310 and BS 320 (FS 270)

Russian % are BS = Clean DL not mixed grip conventional. Think about that.

I know a USAW coach (up there in the ranks) that prescribed lots of RDL's and GM (wide legged).

Don McCauley believes a lot in the Clean DL.

My DL on the other hand sucks ***.

How often do you think oly lifters pull heavy deadlifts as supposed to pulls?

Re: Do olympic lifters have weak hamstrings?

That would all depend on programming and where they are in their training.

Competition cycle or strength cycle or off-season. And if they are a WL on track for the Olympics or World's or merely Nationals. Bulgarian, Russian, Chinese, American etc programming.

Who knows really.

There is a difference between Sn/Cn DL or Sn/Cn pulls, high pulls, or chinese pulls as well besides position DL (with pauses at positions).

I'd wager they very rarely do mix grip conventional DL (higher hips than Cn and shoeless) if at all except for ****s and giggles.

I agree, training methods for oly lifting seems much more diverse than powerlifting etc.

I was wondering about that but I don't/didn't feel like getting into it. Or the difference between squatting wide/super wide bent over suited with knee wraps and just parallel vs as low as you can go and upright.

I'd wager PLers do more specific glute/hamstring work than OLer's do but there focus is BS/BP/DL vs Sn/CJ with squats, presses, and pulls as assistance work.

They also do not compete on an Olympic cycle but a yearly cycle. Those WLers that compete Nationally or are trying to gain recognition Nationally to make International spots would also be on a yearly cycle.

All these numbers are in KILOS, by the way.

Individual weakness depends on the person and their training program. I will say that among novice lifters, posterior strength is usually the weakest link.

Anyone who can snatch 140kg+ has strong hamstrings.
