Re: Anybody have any inspirational quotes they use?

Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy:

Don't take life too seriously; you'll never get out alive.

Peace of Mind and Self-Confidence comes from Self-Reliance

"Personal commitment, sacrifice and determination are the only means to betterment." Noel Coward

“The essential thing in life is not so much conquering as fighting well." Baron De Coubertin

If you can train your mind for running, everything else will be easy.
Amby Burfoot

"You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through." ~Rosalynn Carter

"If you don't have confidence, you'll always find a way not to win." ~Carl Lewis

"You only ever grow as a human being if you're outside your comfort zone." ~Percy Cerutty

"Processed foods not only extend the shelf life, but they extend the waistline as well."
~ Karen Sessions

"To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art."
~ La Rochefoucauld

"True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body; the two are united."
~ Alexander von Humboldt

"Strength is not gained overnight; it is cultivated over time."
~ David Shaw

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Today's preparation determines tomorrow's achievement."
~ Unknown

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit."
~ Aristotle

"People too weak to follow their own dreams will always find a way to discourage others."
~ Unknown

"Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe dedicated."
~ Unknown Author

"No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending."

The pride you gain is worth the pain.
-Dennis Ogilvie

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not.
When you race him, he will win.
-Tom Fleming

"If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse."

"How am I to know what I can achieve if I quit?" -Jason Bishop

"Just say to yourself... how bad do I want this? Am I working harder than the person who will be standing next to me?"

"Limitations are for people that have them and excuses are for people that need them." Unknown

"Everything you do, every decision you make, either takes you a step closer or a step further away from your goal. You either grow or you regress; nothing stands still."

I will not allow yesterday's success to lull me into today's complacency, for this is the great foundation of failure.
Og Mandino

"People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do"

"You were not born a winner, and you were not born a loser. You are what you make yourself"

'while most are dreaming of success, winners wake up and work hard to achieve it'

"Strive for perfection with the anger that you know you will never achieve it"

"Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one"

"The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle."
~Sun Tzu~

“Don’t wish that it was easier, wish that you were better!”

We improve ourselves by victories over ourself. There must be contests, and you must win.—Edward Gibbon

“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”
Bruce Lee

Never fear competition. Welcome it, embrace it , and then destroy it.

“…what a disgrace it would be for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”-Socrates

“We are a nation of physical animals who have forgotten how much we enjoy being that. We are cushioned by this kind of make-believe, unreal world and we have no idea what we can survive because we are never challenged or tested.” Chuck Palahniuk

"Those who say it can't be done shouldn't interrupt those who are doing it." - Chinese proverb

The human body was never designed for a sedentary lifestyle, it was created to hunt saber tooth tigers and walk 40 miles a day" - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"We do what you do almost as well as you, you can't do our stuff at all, and we do what neither of us do better than you can". Coach Glassman

and lastly:

Why do I succeed?
I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not.
I will fight against the odds.
I will sacrifice.
I am not shackled by fear, insecurity or doubt.
I feel those emotions--drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell.
I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride.
Pride consumes the weak--kills their heart from within.
If I fall--I will get up. If I am beaten--I will return.
I will never stop getting better. I will never give up--ever.
That is why I succeed

Two of my favourites (of many...):

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."
- Mark Twain

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity."

Re: Anybody have any inspirational quotes they use?

I have a quote that a friend of mine said to me when he found out I was starting Crossfit. It is taped to my computer here at work so I stare at it at least 40 hours a week

It says:

"I've done a few workouts, they are tough. You can't hack it, look for something easier."

he also told me I was "lazy and weak"

I also have this taped in my workout log book.

When our last 5K was called off because the trail was too dang dark and I had to row it instead I seriously pictured myself punching him in the face for being a punk the whole time I was rowing.....and I knocked 2 1/2 minutes off of my last 5K row time I guess he is good for something.
"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn.”

(Said to me once before a particularly tough rock climb)

"Just f**king go, you p***y."

I went
and succeeded.

More than once I've used that line to motivate myself before and during a workout. Your mileage may vary.
