Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

This guy!! He's been going to the gym for longer than I have, yet he still looks the same and lifts the same weights as when he started. To day I saw him benching 30 kg

I don't get it, how can you not make progress in two years?

I also get confused about this as well. There's a trainer at the rec center I've been going to for a couple years. Same client, same exercises, and same weights every workout.

It also perplexes me that she uses the same 8 pound dumdbells for bench, press, bicep curls, rows, lunges, etc. You would think if she can curl 8 pounds than she should go heavier on the other more compound exercises.

Wouldn't want to get bulky. Besides, light weight and high reps are best for toning.

I was chatting with a guy in the locker room after he had a personal training session and he said something along the lines of "ive been doing this for years and i just cant tell if its doing any good".

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

A dude walked into the back corner of my gym where the oly platform and squat rack is (usually pretty quiet back there). First things first. Sleeveless shirt, track pants and Quicksilver flip flops. He proceeded to warm up by swinging a 15lb kb around his body. Later he came back and began his curls in the squat rack. Once he got up to 50lbs he grabbed a weight belt, put it on, but didn't tighten it, and finished his last set. He then grabbed a barbell with weight on it, went to the middle of the oly platform and did more curls. At that point I was done and I left.

You could have at least corrected me on what I was doing wrong. Sheesh.

Same guy that doesn't progress talking about nutrition. "Yeah, it's Summer so I don't eat that much because blah blah, only salads, no legumes, blah blah..."

No wonder he's getting nowhere

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Whenever I read this thread, I end up internally channeling Chris Rock:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the shiny globo gym
I have one piece of advice for you
No matter what the trainer tells you
There are no curls in the squat rack
Oh there are squats in the squat rack
But you don't want squats... you want curls
And there's NO curls in the squat rack

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

What if I can curl more than you can squat?

That would be worth watching but still no curling in the squat rack. Although I bet you'd get asked very, very, very politely to move.
