Are you addicted to Paleo???

Per the topic, I think I'm addicted to the paleo diet. Cheats are starting to feel more like obligations than indulgences. Any sweetened food has that overly sugary taste I associate with candy corn and the like. Pasta, which used to be my favorite food, tastes pretty bland, even when it's really good I'm convinced I'm only tasting the sauce. The only "non-paleo" things I still love are black coffee and beer. It seems like my taste buds are only interested in bitter things, and they treat fruit like it's candy.

It's both cool (makes it super easy to stick with paleo) and kind of saddening. While processed foods aren't good for the body, they do the mind good sometimes. It sucks that comfort foods have lost their "comfort"...

Also, I'm a mess (physically) if I eat a lot of sugar, though strangely a night of drinking has next to no effect.

Anyone else experienced this?

Re: Are you addicted to Paleo???

Oh geeze yes. I've got a pretty significant gluten allergy, but even eating non-gluten non-paleo food will destroy me. The past few days of holiday parties have rendered me sore and exhausted. I can't wait to get back on a real schedule where I can cook all my meals again.

Re: Are you addicted to Paleo???

I am 100% addicted to Paleo food... I go home in disgust to see what my family eats every day when I'm not there (@ school for semesters at a time) to buy real food. Drives me insane!
And my cheats are usually... paleo. Hah. Paleo brownies, ice cream, muffins (almond meal!)... yeah. I love paleo

Re: Are you addicted to Paleo???

While I would not use the term "addiction," I am pretty much right there with you. The indulgence foods I once loved don't do much for me anymore.

Case in point - pizza. Used to love it. I still like it and may have a few slices 1x/2-4 months. But, the high sodium content makes me so thirsty for the next 24 hours that it is not very tempting anymore.

Re: Are you addicted to Paleo???

I agree with the above post; I definitely wish I was addicted to Paleo. Sadly I am still addicted to sugar. Any suggestions for breaking that addiction so I can jump on your bandwagon?
