Attempting to Qualify to CF Games 2009

Post here if you are going to try to qualify to the Games this year!
Make a little profile of yourself... include: name, age, the affiliate you train at, 5 favorite corssfit movements, 5 favorite 'named' WODs and your times on them.
Lots of affiliates have announced if they are the ones that are hosting the qualifications for certain regions.
It's confirmed that Calgary is hosting the qualifier for the provinces of BC, AB, and SK on May 2 and 3 according to their website www.crossfitcalgary.ca (safe link)

Re: Attempting to Qualify to CF Games 2009

I'm very aware it's a huge long shot for me to qualify, I'm probably not up to par yet, but I figure I might as well go for it. At the least I'll get a jump on training for 2010, and I'll have fun at the qualifiers!

Age: 21
Years in CF: ~2
5 Favorite CF Movements: Kettlebell swings, double unders, power cleans, thrusters, muscle ups
5 Favorite WODs: Fran* (5:27), Cindy* (20 + 5 PUs), "Power Clean" Elizabeth (7:12), Grace (4:36), Helen* (9:01)
*Times w/ chest-to-bar pullups

Speaking of which, is there any word on what the standards will be to qualify, or how many total participants will be allowed, anything like that?

Re: Attempting to Qualify to CF Games 2009

Age: 18

Affiliate: LaLanne Fitness, San Francisco

CrossFit experience: 4 months

Favorite CrossFit movements: Muscle-ups, deadlifts, rowing, pull-ups, box jumps.

Favorite CrossFit workouts: "The Animal" (150 KBS for time, 2pd.), CrossFit Total: 780, "Grace", "Fight Gone Bad" (278).

I wonder if I have a hope of qualifying...it should be interesting to see. It's probably a moot point, though, because I'm going to be in Costa Rica from January through May.

Is that better or worse than feeling like a big baby?

Re: Attempting to Qualify to CF Games 2009

I can't believe people who have been doing crossfit a year or less are ready for the games, I'm joining the ranks of people being made feel like children and/or arthritic grandmothers by this thread

I'm gearing up for the Games too! The Games 2011 that is....

That doesn't mean you shouldn't go to the qualifier this year. It will be a blast. There might even be one right in Boston. If not, Albany isn't that far. I'm hoping I can get to a qualifier, even though I have zero expection of qualifying for the Games themselves.

Age: 41
Wt: 172
Train: in my garage for 1.5 years
Best CF movements: pullups, cleans, front squats, 400m run, KTE
Best workouts: Fran (4:46), Helen (9:16), Murph (36:43), Tabata This (47), FGB (265)

Like I said, I won't be qualifying. Actually, FGB is not one of my best, but I don't have many bests as I've been off the mainpage this year, so I just threw it out there as a recent data point. I'm due for a go at Nicole, though. I could probably get a respectable score nowadays.
