Re: 2009 Flex Wheeler Classic Crossfit Challenge!

Wow Herm, I actually thought you were kidding about this when I read it the first day posted. I guess I should have clicked on the link...Anyways, I'm really glad to hear about this. This is great exposure for CF, cause I'm sure Flex will attract alot of non CF'ers to the event. Definitely keep us posted.

You bet! Some of the details are coming around now. I will update this thread as details become available.

Hey Steven, plan on being at Rainier CF sometime during Christmas week. I'll be in WA from the 24th till the 27th.

Entry Form!!!

Dear Crossfit Affiliate,

My name is Herm Blancaflor. I typically post as "Herm @ CF Los Altos, CA" on the main site WOD. I'm a Crossfit Level 1 Certified coach. I coach crossfit classes at my affiliate in Los Altos, CA.

On August 8th, 2009, I am hosting the 1st Annual Flex Wheeler Crossfit Challenge, being held in conjunction with the Flex Wheeler Classic Bodybuilding show and Fitness Expo. This will be an all-day event, with 3 different WODs, similar to the CF Games format. Workouts and scoring system is TBD.

It is recommended for each competitor to build up a solid foundation of movements, strength and metabolic conditioning before the event, as this event will consist of multiple workouts within a 12 hour (or less) window. For example, you should be able to do "Fran" as Rx'ed within 10 minutes, row a sub-8 minute 2k, and Deadlift your bodyweight for multiple reps.

I have posted this Challenge in a thread on the Crossfit Discussion Board here:

http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=38272

and a link is also on the CF Affiliate's website in the right-hand column under "Upcoming Affiliate Events" here:

http://www.crossfit.com/cf-affiliates/

I am envisioning this Challenge as being an event where many competitors from the surrounding states and Canadian provinces may get a chance to compete at a high level of competition. I am aiming for athletes who may or may not have qualified for the Crossfit Games this year, or those who find that a 3-day trip to California simply does not fit their schedule, or those who are simply up for a challenge.

Herm,

Looks interesting! Please be sure to denote W/F Safe on your links (even to the CF pages). Also, it looks like the first link to the Flex Wheeler event is bad - do you have a new one?

Thanks!

Joshua and/or any other moderator, can you take this thread down?

Unfortunately, the Flex Wheeler Classic Expo will not happen this year, due to financial and sanctioning shortcomings. I regret to inform you that we will not be having the Flex Wheeler Classic Crossfit Challenge this year and ask that the information regarding this event posted on this board be taken down.

I am sorry for wasting your time, and I was really looking forward to making this event happen!

Sincerely and regretfully,
Herm Blancaflor

Re: 2009 Flex Wheeler Classic Crossfit Challenge!

Give us the goods...what happend? I love challenges! Getting something off the ground is hard and sometimes it seems the world conspires but sometimes it just to see how driven, dedicated, and focused we are. Let us know and maybe we can use our collective ingenuity to get this competition off the ground or even change venues to get it going...look forward to hearing from you Herm...
