Hi from a newbie in MN... And a DU???

Hi all -- first, let me say this place is just amazing! Thanks to everyone who helps keep CF organized and welcoming all at the same time!

I'm "Beck" or "Becky" -- 51/F/155 -- played w/various exercises & programs over the last 10 years as I've lost 65#s, gotta drop the last 10 again. I get bored easily and so when I saw CF with it's emphasis on form and challenging oneself, I was really intrigued. I recently sold my horse - I did dressage which is much like CF for horses -- form, balance, strength, flexibility, endurance = harmony, effortless movement, beauty. I was obsessed w/my horse riding, looks like CF will be a good place to go instead of to the barn! (no affiliates close by - I work out at home...)

I got a Journal sub and have been lurking about a month and did my first two WODs last weekend. Kicked my butt but huge fun!

My goals?
In the next three months:
- establish a 6am workout habit.
- weigh 145ish.
- get comfortable with the WODs.
- do 75% of the WODs at puppy level.

So, for right now, I don't have any "achievement" goals as far how I want to look or what I want to accomplish -- I just want to settle into CF and start the journey. I figure in three months I'll know just enough to have an idea of what I want to try to do. Like dressage, CF seems to be a journey described as "the more I know, the more I realize I have yet to learn..."

oh yeah - I tend to be wordy - sorry! - but I do have a question too...

I've been trying DUs - read the tip about jumping forward, not jumping too high, do a couple singles, then a DU...

Smacked my ankles, smacked the back of my head...

Here's what I found: It's like my feet need to go slo-mo while my wrists go double time. And that just aint happening. When my feet go slo - so do my hands!

Any tips on getting the coordination of slo feet/quick hands?

Thanks! Becky

There are a ton of posts here about double unders. Check them out and if you still have questions post to one of those threads! But like dressage it is a little at a time!! Here's hoping you get into CF enough you can modify it for dressage riders!!! I know there are a couple down here who would be interested!

now that's a cool idea -- CF for dressage riders! We could also do a spin off of CF for the horse too

and thanks for the tip about searching the boards... I'll give that a whirl!

You are quite welcome!! Yep for the horses as well...although from what I have heard, the exercise science for horses is pretty advanced! But who knows! :-)
