Another Hybrid Athletics WOD

Just to prove that Hybrid isn't full of a bunch of meatheads who specialize in lifting heavy stuff, here's a wod we did last week.

400M Run
50 Box Jumps @ 40"
400M Run
40 Box Jumps @ 40"
400M Run
30 Box Jumps @ 40"
400M Runs
75 Pushups

All jumps were to the top of 2 stacked truck tires with bumper plates wedged in the middle to make it exactly 40". They weren't the prettiest jumps but we all got onto the tire and extended coming off.

Winning time was a hair over 16 minutes.

Good Luck.

Damn, that's a pretty good time, considering 90 jumps to 40", that is no joke, plus a mile running and some push-ups.

looks like fun, have you ever measured your vertical?

Re: Another Hybrid Athletics WOD

It's actually 120 jumps but who's counting? My vertical is decent. I'm 5'8" and can hang on a 10' basketball hoop. That works out to 38" or so. Haven't officially tested it in quite a while but it feels as good as it's ever felt.

Thanks for checking out the wod.

Re: Another Hybrid Athletics WOD

I don't think I've ever done box jumps over 2 feet. I bet the running feels awkward after 50 of those.

And now, a completely unrelated question. I'm assuming you're the dude in all the videos. In the prowler workout, you tossed the KBs on the ground. The trainer at my gym told me he did that and his shattered everywhere. I'm also assuming KBs are made of different materials, based on this incident. What are the ones that are prone to shattering made of and what were the ones you were using made of? Just curious. =]

Re: Another Hybrid Athletics WOD

Rob,

Keep posting these workouts. I have done the last two you posted: modified Nate and the 100 thrusters (but with 95). I like the change here and there from the main site and also the challenge.

Thanks!

John

I will try this one soon.
