Re: home built squat cage

Very cool. Reclaiming existing wood/materials is very satisfying. I used my left over wood flooring to make a deck for my olympic lifting platform. (And btw was able to score a sweet deal on a used power rack for $40 from the local university. Otherwise I would've made it from wood.)
Gotta love wood! That stuff is pretty handy

Re: home built squat cage

...another thing I've found helpful is to bolt one's power rack to as much of the house/garage as you can. I had to cut apart mine, throw away a cross brace to fit in my garage, but then was able to bolt the sides to the rafters and the cement floor. Otherwise there can be a tipping danger.

Very cool work, Casey. I'm glad you took the idea and ran with it.

Re: home built squat cage

I am building a power rack like Casey's. Anyone have ideas for adding a lat pulldown?

Re: home built squat cage

How about making a good pull up bar instead of the lat pulldown?

Re: home built squat cage

I think that I will use 1 inch glavanized steel tubing and attach pulleys with chain. I think that will work. I will post pictures when I am finished.
