Justin McGinley - I want to be a Monster
I've often described my fitness goals as this: "I want to be a Monster. Not a hulking, bulging, steroid filled monster, but rather a 30 dead hang pull-ups, clapping hand stand push-ups, and sub 5 minute mile kind of monster."
Let's watch me do it. My current program consists of working out with Crossfit Tribe (wfs) when I can, and following the main page WODs when I can't. Sometimes I'll go to the track and do sprints, or do bunch of heavy lifting at my local globo-gym when my affiliate and mainpage WODs refuse to work together. -Justin |

Crossfit Tribe workout 10, 9, 8, ... 3, 2, 1 75lb sandbag squat cleans Vertical jumps The last time I did this, I used a 50lb sandbag and I murdered my back with bad form. This time around I took my time, concentrating on maintaining a neutral back position and it felt great. Killer workout. Sandbags are always heavier than they seem. Also, this was my first workout in my new Vibram Five Fingers. I love them. They look alien, but they feel right. It is the comfort and ease of motion you get when training barefoot, without the fear of foot trauma from glass or shard stones. |

1 mile jog, CFWUx2 Mainpage WOD Squat 5,5,5,5,5 195x5 225x5 235x5 235x5 205x5 followed by some single leg squat skill work. No PR today. Doing 55 reps of 75lb sandbag squat cleans the day prior did not leave me with the freshest legs, so I didn't go as heavy as I would have liked. |

I run as close to POSE as I can. I still need to pull faster, and I have a tendency to lean forward at my waist a little. I thought I had been running with good form until I saw my "before" video at the clinic. My form is much, much better now, and I can't recommend getting coached on form enough. You can read the book, watch the DVD, and do all of the drills and still run wrong. I plan on going to another clinic in a few months to improve my form more. The clinic I went to was only $80, and completely worth it. Look here: http://forums.posetech.com/calendar.php WFS |

Re: Justin McGinley - I want to be a Monster
See my post above. I learned so much in two hours. I was very lucky to find a 2hour clinic with a level III POSE coach with only 4 clients for $80. Totally worth it.

21 - 15 - 9 Burpees Pullups 9:16 Back Extensions 3x10-15 Sprints 1 x 400m 2 x 200m 2 x 100m I wanted to do today's mainsite WOD, but I tore open my hand a few days ago and I can't do dumbbell snatches. The burpees/pullups left me more gassed than Fran does. Who would have thought? On the drive home I drove past a track and had to hop out and give some sprints a try with my new Vibrams. It is a different feel. There is just no way to not land on the balls of your feet. These absorb no shock at all. a very different feeling that I will have to get used to. Not a bad feeling. These kind of force you to not heel strike, which is good. foreign, but good. |

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!!!!!!!
You started a log! ![]() Let the Monster-Making begin. ![]() Glad you're having fun with the Vibrams. That's my experience with them as well. I take them everywhere with me and, at every chance I get, toss around in them. I gotta get in on that POSE thing ASAP. |
