Yes, under the definition you would be a pro because you make money training others in CrossFit. It is the same as golf course pros being considered pros; they are not tour pros but because they make money off training other golfers they are considered pros. It would also in theory prohibit anyone who won the Granite Games, Wodapolloza, or other Functional Fitness events hosted by CrossFit boxes in which there was a substantial (over $500) payout.

Perhaps a pro CrossFit association could be created...

Re: CrossFit Games Amateur division

I really don't see the point in an amateur division at the Games. The whole reason for the Games is to find the fittest individual (among peers) or team. How does an amateur division accomplish this? Who would want to watch it? Like someone else already mentioned, this is a case of everyone gets a trophy syndrome.

I don't think that is an equal comparison because the PGA has a Playing Ability Test.

True, but I could also wake up tomorrow morning, put an add in the paper to give lessons, and as soon as I receive money for doing so, I'm a pro. Same could be said if I enter a tournament as a amateur, all I need to do is declare I will accept payment and if I win prize monies, I'm considered a pro.
Regardless if I'm qualified to do so, can break 100 myself, or are affiliated with the local/national PGA.

It actually is an equal comparison.
All one needs to do, is accept money. That's it. You're a pro.

Seriously !
A lot of people would love to see at least some side events for firefighters/police officers/military : obstacle racing, carrying heavy dummies, ...

Re: CrossFit Games Amateur division

How about a division for 33 year olds named Aaron that have 7 kids...? I would dominate all those other Aarons for sure!
