Snatch Speed Ladder

OK, just trying to learn here.

Snatch Speed Ladder

Why on earth are these guys dumping the bar in front of them

For a 30s event, you're losing a couple of seconds trying to step over those dumped bars. I'd dump it behind me.

What am I missing here?

For safety reasons they are required to.

Re: Snatch Speed Ladder

I'm assuming in order to control the descent of the bar so there aren't barbells bouncing all over the place, which would create some safety issues.

If it's like Regionals, they were told they are not allowed to dump the bar behind them. There was a global rule at regionals that we were to no-rep any time a bar was dumped behind an athlete. As a judge who has nearly been creamed by bars a few times, I appreciate it.
