This is in bad taste in my opinion.

Re: Aurora WoD
Not a fan of the Hero workouts myself, but at least (I hope) the family and friends of the deceased came up with the idea or are party to the decision, and (again I hope) the person in question did CrossFit themselves. Kind of like a John Doe memorial hockey tournament named after the late John Doe, local hockey player/coach/parent.
But doing push-ups -- oops, I mean muscle-ups, 'cause it's gotta have muscle-ups-- in honor of 6-yr old who got shot in a movie theater and using the age is cool yeah we used to do that in my gymnastics class, aren't we an awesome supportive community? I dunno, it's more than I can stomach. |

Re: Aurora WoD
What? You're not providing 5-10 links proving that it's inappropriate?
![]() ![]() I don't see how a thread about a WOD that is intended to honor the dead is inappropriate. Calling it "neat" that they died? Different story. - Mark |

Re: Aurora WoD
All it is is a community doing what they do in remembrance of these people. It's not hurting anyone. I would imagine if you asked the families if they approve, no one would say no, I don't want you doing something harmless in honor of my loved one.
Again, to each his own. If you think it's inappropriate, don't do it. But don't tell people that doing the same workout as each other in honor of people that died is inappropriate or disrespectful. |

Don't really feel like going in depth as to why, but I agree inappropriate.

Re: Aurora WoD
Well, whatever. I'm not sure how and where one draws a time line between when this would be appropriate and when it would not, but that's okay.
For whatever it's worth, HQ programmed the Lumberjack 20 for one month after the shootings at Fort Hood back in 2009. Whether or not the one month gap was out of respect for the dead is unknown to me. Might have been though. Lumberjack 20 (wfs) - Mark |

Re: Aurora WoD
Well damn, if it is to honor people that died that is a different story. Someone is going to have a full ti,me job just to honor those that died every day. Hell, let's narrow it down to those that died in a tragic way (we'll define tragic later). Hmm, still going to keep a team of monkeys at typewriters busy coming up with WOD's for a long time.
