Perry's Workout Log

DOB: 1983
Height: 185cm / 6'1"
Weight: 65.7kg / 145lb
Location: Yokohama, Japan
Goals and about me: I've always been a slim guy, so I'd love to bunk up a bit and I want to look and feel stronger. I want to learn to do handstand pushups and muscle-ups. I went to a military college and I served 5 years in the Navy after that, so I've always enjoyed Physical Training.

My first day of CrossFit. Because the time change between here in Japan and the US, I'll do the WOD from the main page a week prior. That way the day of the week will at least match up, and the workout will be the same whether it's AM or PM when I workout. There's no affiliate in my city, so I'll make do with my dumbbells and a local park, and probably start making some of my own gear. Hopefully posting here will keep me motivated to not miss days. So, this workout is from the main site a week ago, and I changed wall balls to dumbbell thrusters. Leaving my apartment to go to the park for Toes-to-bar, I took the stairs and felt like I was going to tumble down them. Those dumbbell thrusters turn your legs to jelly!

Warmup
Forgot to do this. Will do tomorrow.

For time
50 Dumbbell thrusters, 10kg
90sec rest
40 Dumbbell thrusters, 10kg, down to 7.5kg halfway through
90sec rest
30 Dumbbell thrusters, 5kg
90sec rest
20 Dumbbell thrusters, 2.5kg
90sec rest
10 Dumbbell thrusters, 2.5kg

Toes-to-bar 25-20-15-10-5, 90sec rests

Actual performance
20 minutes to complete all the thrusters. 2nd set I had to reduce to 7.5kg halfway through, 3rd set reduced to 5kg, then 2.5 for the 4th and 5th. Toes to bar: 21-7-10-9-6

Notes

After this workout I went on an overnight hike on the Tanzawa mountain range. Highest elevation: 1,673m (5,489ft). Very strenuous ridge hiking.

Warmup
Jogging to park. Stretch.

For time
8 rounds of:
Run 400 meters
Rest 90 seconds

Notes

modified the WOD (deleted squats) due to exhausted legs from hiking. No rope, so substituted towel pullups. Using dumbbells.

10-8-6-4 Bicep curls, 27.5kg
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 towel pullups

Performed as written.

Fighting a cold today. All exercises done with dumbbells. This is my first time doing the clean, so I chose a light weight to work on my form.

Warmup
10 squats, 10 pushups, stretching

For time
"Linda" (modified)
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of:
Deadlift: 37.5kg

Bench press: 37.5kg

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of:

Clean: 22.5kg

Actual performance
Reduced weight for deadlift and benchpress to 35kg on the set with 4 reps.

Missed yesterday's WOD of overhead squats due to taking a sick day. My cold virus had me out cold unfortunately. Back into it today feeling much stronger and rested. Heavy rain out, so I'll do a travel WOD

This workout was too short, but I guess that's ok for the first week getting into CrossFit. I really look forward to moving somewhere where there's an affiliate box/ trainer to work with me on the Power clean, clean and jerk, etc.
