"3. Proper attire may include official uniforms or apparel, depending on the stage
of competition."

From the rule book, but it is pretty vague. I remember last year one of the male athletes had tape over the logo of his "chuck taylor's". That didn't seem to apply to all brands though, like I saw pendaly's and inov-8s not being taped over.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

I did half of workout 2 yesterday (at a slightly reduced weight) and it really puts it into perspective how beastly some of the top times truly are.

I did:
1000m row
25 pistols (alternating legs each rep)
15 205lb Hang Power Cleans

in 8:17.

So most people there are doing twice that and with more weight at a much faster pace.... crazy. I would consider this workout to really play to my strengths too.

Ha, I did the women's weight version of WOD 4 and reduced all the 50 and 40 rep sets down to 30, it still took me 18:06.

Andrew,

Athletes can wear whatever shoes they'd like in competition.

Does anyone know the status on Mikko Salo, he was a past champion, but I don't even see his name on the Europe regionals list. I would think he at least should do the workouts.....that and I'm very curious as to how he does on them.

I think this was brought up earlier in the thread. He's injured; knee, if I remember correctly.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Maybe it is already mentioned before (in that case ignore this) but I don't like the used scoring system at all.

Example work-out A:
Competitor 1: 9 reps
Competitor 2: 9 reps
Competitor 3: 9 reps
Competitor 4: 9 reps
Competitor 5: 8 reps
=> Competitor 5 is punished too hard now.

Example work-out B:
Competitor 1: 15 reps
Competitor 2: 9 reps
Competitor 3: 9 reps
Competitor 4: 9 reps
Competitor 5: 9 reps
=> Competitor 1 is not rewarded enough.

Why is not a better scoring system in use? For instance the winner gets 1 point and the others a fraction of 1 point (based on how they did compared to the winner). Or give a certain work-out a par score, everybodies score gets compared to the par score. Or a system similar to the one used in decathlon.
