Any X-C Skiers??
Hey all I am a new crossfitter, but a life long athlete. I am super glad that I have found this type of training and community.
My background is in hockey and cross country skiing. I coach a very competitive High Performance Ski team here in Northern Manitoba, Canada. I feel crossfit style workouts fit in very well with our off season training, especially when we are building strength power and speed. Anyway, just making a shout out and seeing if anyone else out there is a xc skier?? Great sport to take up if you live in a winter area, trust me, you won't want the snow to go once you become proficient at cross country skiing. |

Re: Any X-C Skiers??
Former skier here, used to ski for Nakkertok in Ottawa.
My feeling is that typical WODs can work well as a substitute for the usual circuit-training that skiers do in the off season. Sprint specialists can probably go even further down the road of strength + short metcons. At the very least, getting endurance athletes to know their way around a barbell is a worthwhile enterprise. Concept 2 makes the Ski Erg and is very involved with CrossFit. I'm sure they have resources and sample workouts for xc skiers. |

Re: Any X-C Skiers??
I do a little, but very recreationally. CrossFit has definitely helped my x-c skiing because of improvements in strength.
