Found CrossFit; Did some reading about it; Found a Box that is nearby; Signed up for the Intro/Training class and just completed that today.
![]() WOW!!!!! After the Intro/Training class, I signed up for the Beginner On Ramp course. That starts on Monday, during my 2nd day of SORE. ![]() Goals? 1) I have Sleep Apnea and use the CPAP machine. First goal is to lose about 50 lbs, retest my condition, and get off that damn contraption. 2) Continue to lose weight until I weigh less than 200 lbs. 3) I am starting off in the worst shape of my life, I want to end up in the BEST shape of my life. Re: My first day...
I am a beginner also. Finished 4 weeks of on-ramp class and the the first "real" week today. The folks at my box said don't worry about the scale for the first month or three. Eat right, keep going to CF and it'll work out. I got on the scale this morning and weighed the same as last Sat. But I know I ate good and worked my rear end off . . . . But I notice my belt a little looser so no more scale for me for a while. Work, eat right . . something good will happen!

Re: My first day...
Congratulations on beginning. I was in similar condition to yours. 40 pounds overweight, 52 years old and out of shape.
I did the On Ramp month, and now am beginning my third week of regular classes. Sure, I'm the last one done with the WODs, but I am leaner, stronger and fitter than I have been in ages. Make sure you have well qualified coaches at a good box, and like me, you will look forward to the workouts. They are harder than anything I've ever done in my life, but the results, feeling of accomplishment and the comraderie make it all worthwhile. |

Re: My first day...
It was the same with me. I started at around 298 lbs and after 3-4 months, I was flirting with the 220-230 mark (as well as Rx'ing everything).
Keep coming back and you will see results! Good luck and welcome aboard! |

Re: My first day...
just ditch the scale now, it won't do you any favours. You'll be gaining muscle mass and loosing fat, there are going to be times you gain pounds but loose inches. That stupid scale will only erode your confidence that you're on the right path. Furthermore when loosing weight, plateaus are normal, it's NEVER linear, it's more like hills and valley's. The only guy that needs to know your weight is your doctor, guess what - he has a scale, let him use his. What to do with your own scale? They make one hell of a great med ball target!
