Prep'ing for 12.2
ok,
I plan to do 12.2 on Saturday. Today is Weds and currently a rest day. What do you recommend I do on Thursday to prep for the 30/30/30/30 snatches? I'm in the masters class (55+) and should be able to get into the 3rd round..not sure I'm going to make it deep into that round. Should I work on my heavy snatches to get more conformable or take it light and go for technique..etc..or do something else entirely. I'm thinking of taking Friday off and basically doing restorative yoga before I hit it on Sat. any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

If you really want to do snatches Thursday, you might do triples (or three singles) at each of the WOD weights up to 90% or so of your max. But I wouldn't do more than that. Then maybe throw in a 5-10 minute metcon -- at LOW intensity -- and call it a day.
The idea being that you're not going to get any stronger by Saturday, so just remind your body what the movement feels like. Katherine |

Thursday (yesterday) was my Oly day, and we did a shortened version of 12.2.
10, 6, 3 of 12.2. 10 @ 75# 6 @ 135# 3 @ 165# Didn't go for 210# at all. We didn't think it would have been smart. Just to kinda get a feel for it. It worked out pretty well. And it helped me get a real sense of how much 12.2 is gonna suck! ![]() |

I did this MWOD:
Overhead squat/snatch prep Composed of: Wall Squat Pigeon pose, Foam roller thorasic extension Cop Stretch Added some light snatch work and undered some doubles to break a little sweat and get the blood flowing. |

I did some snatches to see if I could even get 135 and NOPE! But then today when I did 12.2 I was determined not to be in the clump of "30" and I actually did 4 reps with 135. They were ugly but they were overhead!
