Some might say aversion to any food entirely is groundless. I have actually made it through the day meatless and done well on my protein intake. I see no reason of course to exclude animal products, but certainly a vegetarian has 0 problems with sources of protein. I would venture to say it would be trickier for a vegan to hit all the bases, but I would make the same argument about paleo-ites. Pay attention to what you eat and it should be simple enough.
