Re: Gslp

The FM work should be done with sets that aren't going to destroy you for the barbell work. For example, if your max push ups are 20, then don't start with sets of 10 or more. Start with 5 sets of 5...

Re: Gslp

While the time spent in the gym might over an hour, you're not constantly working during that time. There is a lot of rest between sets. Each set should be intentionally approached with performance...

Re: stalled at power cleans

Let me start out by saying that I'm not an expert in the Oly lifts and their derivatives, so take my observations with a grain of salt.

First, congrats on getting your PC up!

Looking at your...

Re: Gslp

Power cleans before a deadlift serve as a warm up. Don't take them to failure. My recommendation is to use about 40% of your work set weight (which is a pretty standard initial warm up weight for...

Re: Gslp

It sounds like a mental block to me too. That 5+ set can feel pretty daunting at times. But, you'll get more out of trying than not trying. Just get under the bar each set, take it one rep at a time,...

Re: Gslp

With all of the things that people liked to talk about and how edgy a lot of it was, moderation didn't seem to be needed ;)

Re: Gslp

According to the book, every last work set is a max rep set. Other than the deload week, you should be doing max reps on the last set every time you're in the gym.

Re: Gslp

Eric, thanks for your advice. I'd looked at 5/3/1 before, but looking over it again is making it more appealing. Especially BBB.

With my work schedule what it is, I might go TM once I finish my LP...

Good to know! ...now if I could just find a way to convince my wife to let me buy the ebook ;)

Re: Gslp

Thanks for the input Eric. I've looked at 5/3/1 from time to time in the past, and I'll give it another look. Might be time to buy the e-book.

The thing that I like about the TM is that heavy set on...

Re: Gslp

One other quick Q: when the time comes that I need to adjust from the GSLP to an intermediate program (leaning towards the TM as detailed by Justin Lascek), should the burpees be dropped, or can they...

Re: Gslp

Anybody feel burned out after awhile doing the 5+ sets for squats? I'm currently keeping to 3x5 for a bit just to give myself a mental break. I've also been keeping DLs to 1x5 for some time now....

Re: Gslp

Can you describe a bit more of what you're doing, like which days you train what? I'm curious about your four day scheme, since GSLP is usually done in three days.

I personally wouldn't do chins or...

Re: Gslp

Quick question, although it may have been asked before: how should I incorporate power cleans in the GSLP? I know JP suggested using them as a warm up for deadliest; would that be too taxing as the...

Re: Gslp

Quick question: I was out for a week (stomach virus + low grade fever), and am going back to the gym tomorrow. What is the best way to get back in the swing of things? I thought I remembered in SS to...
