Re: Gslp

Could do 5/3/1, one lift a day. That's usually doable for supplemental work, since it's designed to be less aggressive than GSLP. Still, if you really want to get stronger, 4-5 conditioning...

Re: Gslp

The thing is, GSLP is not a "supplemental" program, it is a comprehensive one. If you've read the literature, you've seen that conditioning (WODs) is covered in the program. 2 high-intensity...

+10,000-15,000. Somewhere in that range.

Re: Gslp

Well, I can't tell too terribly much from what's written except why do you have 1 day each week with both bench and shoulder press?

Re: Gslp

Some video might help to see if it is technique or simply the weight being too heavy.

Re: Gslp

Yeah, from what I've read/experienced from weightlifting coaches, front squats are best with sets of 3. I don't know the reasoning behind it, just can say that's what I've been told.

Re: Gslp

Assuming your weightlifting club is anything like mine and has strength programmed in, i wouldnt do GSLP at all. If you are doing it all at seriously and regularly it should be a comprehensive...

Re: Gslp

All the above are very good assistance exercise.

Also have to remember that all of your "big lifts" involve a great deal of stability, and this comes from your abs. So you are getting a good ab...

Re: Gslp

Exactly. Don't overthink it too much. You're lifting heavy weights and getting stronger no matter what the estimation says. Besides, the only way to know what your 1RM actually is is to do it.

Re: Gslp

I think the answer here is to probably disregard a 1RM calculator. They're there for fun and rough estimates. Besides, you're dealing with hypotheticals anyway. The fact that the weight goes up...

Re: Gslp

I like to work high hangs on both cleans and snatches to get comfortable dropping into the hole. You're pretty much forced to get low to catch the bar, as all of the first and second pull momentum...

Re: Gslp

Yes sir.

The reason I was recommending full over power version is because I was under the impression you wanted to improve your weightlifting and not just fitness. Correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Gslp

First of all, keep in mind that I'm not a strength-training authority, so most of my advice is based on what I've read, what I've experienced in my relatively short CrossFit career, and what I see as...

Re: Gslp

Your logic makes sense but the what I described is indeed the proper terminology.

Its not a huge deal to this discussion except to avoid confusion.

Re: Gslp

I think there is a confusion in terminology here.

A proper full snatch or clean involves starting with the bar on the ground, catching in a full squat (anything past parallel) with the bar overhead...

Re: Gslp

I think the best way to determine if you high bar or low bar is whether you stick your butt out way back as the first move or go straight down with the knees bending first, if that makes sense. The...

Re: Gslp

Eh, I don't think Oly lifts are that compatable with linear progression. When I was doing them it was mostly a grease-the-groove kind of thing, just to get volume. I didn't have a set progression,...

Re: Gslp

I prefer singles for tech work actually - and tech work is basically what you are doing when adding the Oly into GSLP. As Andrew Bell has corrected me, optimal scheme is 5-7 reps at ~90%.

I'm going...

Re: Gslp

If you are stuck at the same loads, then you should have reset the first time you couldn't make the set of 5.

That's kind of the whole point, when you can't make the sets at the weight for the...

Re: Gslp

Kiko - are you saying you have stalled and haven't been able to go up in weight, or that you are still progressing and just not doing more reps in the 5+? Have you had to do a reset at all yet? ...

Re: Gslp

There's really not an absolute number. When you start stalling or get really bored of GSLP would be the time to switch.

Re: Gslp

Doing one day a week as in all four lifts on one day, or rotating a couple lifts a week? I think you could do the latter and be OK, most CF workouts push strength in some form so it's not like you'd...

Re: Gslp

I think if you are doing GSLP for strength plus solidifying your technique that can add 30# to your snatch easy. Really, at 145# snatch you could work up to 90-95% snatch singles with no problem...

Re: Gslp

Again - Oly lifting is not all that stressful on the system, especially when you want to work technique. There's no problem with adding it to the beginning of your lifting days, 5-10 singles at a...
