Re: Shoulder Pain

Didn't mean to not give everyone a follow-up. I really appreciate all the advice and maybe this will help others.

Got my MRI back - no soft tissue damage. Shoulder impingement apparently caused by...

Re: Shoulder Pain

Once we see what the MRI results are, I'll figure out how long I'll lay off. Right now, I think 2 weeks and I'll at least start some "perfect" form pushups. I've upped the sprints, situps and squats...

Re: Shoulder Pain

Thanks for advice guys.

Went to my Ortho yesterday. X Rays indicate severe impingement from arthritis. Does not suspect a tear yet but MRI tomorrow to make sure. Suggests treating conservatively...

Shoulder Pain

I have a shoulder issue. The pain is not present when I work out. I do not have any reduced range of motion, I do not have any loss of strength. It hurts after my workout and continuously unless I'm...

Re: CrossFit after Heart Bypass

Steven,

Yes, absolutely sure. Confirmed thru medical testing and the fact that even on Ornish, Strict Paleo, the Zone etc. my numbers are still horrible. Normal diet and no Statins my total creeps...

CrossFit after Heart Bypass

Well, much to my dismay, I am not bullet proof and had to have a quadruple heart bypass. Its been a month and I'm feeling great. Quick and strong recovery can be attributed to CrossFit in my...

Re: Meniscus Repair 3 weeks later

I have permission from my Ortho and my PT to do whatever I want as long as it doesn't hurt a lot. They have also cautioned about doing much more than 50% of my previous load in heavy lifts involving...

Meniscus Repair 3 weeks later

I had a partial menisectomy (snipped the flap) for a lateral meniscus tear 3 weeks ago. I have diligently done physical therapy as recommended at least 3 days a week now. This past week, I finally...

I'll be in Los Angeles in May for a business conference. The hotel I'm staying at has free use of the local Gold's Gym but I was hoping to visit a local affiliate at least 1 day for a real workout....

Re: How long for cardio progress

I am probably about 80% zone compliant with a good bit of high fiber, meaning lower glycemic grains thrown in. I do not eat red meat at all and focus on fish, chicken and turkey. I get plenty of...

Re: How long for cardio progress

Marc,
Thanks for the comments. I am a bit heavier than I would like to be but even at #205 I am only around 14% body fat which is considerably less than most my height and weight. Always have been...

I've been at Crossfit for a solid 110 days now! Love it. Best workout of my life. I've seen enormous gains in strength, work effort, endurance, balance, etc. I'm just wondering how long it will take...

Re: How much pukie is too much pukie

I only come close to puking when I have an empty stomach. I never work out with a full stomach or too quickly after eating but no food at all will bring on the nausea, lightheadedness quickly.

Re: Cholesterol and hypercholestrolemia

I believe a lot of new evidence (after Ornish study) has shown that inflammation is perhaps a bigger problem for most with merely 'High' cholesterol. For those of us with genetic problems pushing our...

Re: Cholesterol and hypercholestrolemia

I haven't ever taken a statin holiday. For some reason, everyone in my family tolerate statins very well. I do know people that have side effects but not us. I do take holidays from my Plavix. This...

Scott,

I'm not going to join the debate of whether stations are good or bad just personal experience. I too, as well as my 6 year old daughter, have Hypercholesterolmia. I have been on statins since...

Lynne and whether to scale or not

I am certain I can do Lynne as prescribed and most likely pull 10+ reps on the benchpress in the 1st round or so. I may weaken to less than 5 reps by the last round. Should I scale to get reps above...
